The HyperBraille display for the vision impaired opens new frontiers in education and business

April 28 - 30, 2011

IMS CHIPS has been developing and manufacturing specialized micro chips to activate piezo-electric Braille modules for the metec AG for years.

During the SightCity fair in Frankfurt, the biggest fair on aids for the blind and vision-impaired in Germany, the partners of the Bundesministerium für Wirtschaft und Technologie (BMWi) sponsored Hyperbraille project presented a touch-sensitive area display. Due to the successful project result it was announced that the area display will go into serial production as early as the end of 2011.

Says Federal Minister Brüderle: "I am happy that medium-sized companies were able to develop the new technology for the blind and vision-impaired together with large-industry partners. This technology grands the impaired access to the computer world and provides them with new possibilities in education and business."
