On March 17th, 2016, Staatssekretär Peter Hofelich visited the Institut für Mikroelektronik Stuttgart (IMS CHIPS) and presented the funding notification for the fiscal year 2016. The Ministerium für Finanzen und Wirtschaft will be funding the IMS with about 5.3 mio. Euros.
"Its internationally renowned expertise in nano and microelectronics makes the IMS a crucial facility for the technological infrastructure in Baden-Württemberg, particularly for small and medium-sized companies. They need a reliable partner for their demands in microelectronics since it is often difficult to meet the high technological requirements if having to establish their own very costly research and development capacities", Peter Hofelich, Staatssekretär at the Ministerium für Finanzen und Wirtschaft continued while presenting the funding notification.
