We present our IMS newsletter.
In this newsletter (issue 1, 2017) we would like to give you some highlights of our ongoing activities at the Institut fuer Mikroelektronik Stuttgart. The topics of the current issue are:
Smart sensor systems for Industrie 4.0
Digitalizing industrial processing requires smart sensor systems. IMS CHIPS, its industrial partners and several other research facilities are cooperating in R & D projects in order to find a solution for intelligent sensor systems for industrial applications.
Silicon-based membran for fuel cell applications based on Si MEMS technology
Fuel cells are considered a crucial and seminal technology for clean and renewable energy. Cooperating with the fuel cell research center ZBT GmbH in Duisburg the development and production of fuel cells on Si MEMS technology have been launched and advanced in several projects.
Silicon photonics – latest developments
Silicon photonics offer tremendous opportunities in optical data transmission and integrated sensor technology. Silicon photonics connect the branch circuit and manipulation to electric components on a joint silicon substrate and, thus, empowers highly-complex integrated electro-optical circuits. A cooperation among several research facilities and companies sees the development of optical chips and the production of CMOS and MEMS technologies at IMS CHIPS.
ColorEye – intelligent, compact and high-resolution HDRC® color camera
Together with hema electronic GmbH we are collaborating on a ZIM project sponsored by the Bundesministerium für Wirtschaft und Energie in developing a new camera generation with a Global Shutter HDRC® color sensor including a MegaPixel resolution. Among the possible applications for the high-dynamic range camera system are speedy process controls in industrial applications as well as automation and assistant systems for transport.
