ECOC 2026: Photonics innovation scaled. in Málaga

Once again this year, IMS CHIPS was represented at the European Conference on Optical Communication (ECOC). In Málaga, we showcased our expertise and latest developments in photonics and used two intensive exhibition days to connect with partners, companies and potential customers from the international photonics community.

At our booth, our colleagues Benyamin Shnirman and Dr. Mathias Kaschel provided insights into our technological capabilities and engaged in numerous discussions on current challenges and potential collaborations. Our demonstrators also offered visitors the opportunity to experience research and technology from IMS CHIPS firsthand.

Another highlight was the Product Focus presentation by our Managing Director, Prof. Dr. Niels Quack. In his talk, “Photonics Innovation scaled at the Institute for Microelectronics Stuttgart”, he demonstrated how IMS CHIPS transfers innovations from research into scalable micro- and nanotechnology solutions. The presentation also led to valuable new connections.

There was also an opportunity to reconnect with former colleagues: In Málaga, the team met Alejandro Maese Novo, a former IMS CHIPS employee who is now CTO of the start-up AG Photonics in Málaga. During a visit, he gave our colleagues insights into the company and its laboratory.

After two intensive days, we returned to Stuttgart with many interesting conversations, new connections and valuable impulses.
