IMS CHIPS at EFX and Quantum Effects

From Baden-Württemberg. To the Future. IMS CHIPS at EFX & Quantum Effects 2026

From photonic technologies to quantum sensing: At EFX and Quantum Effects 2026, IMS CHIPS demonstrated how technological research, industrial requirements, and strong partnerships come together to turn innovation into real-world applications.

How can emerging technologies be transformed into industrial solutions? What role will photonics and quantum technologies play in future applications? And how can research institutions and companies accelerate the transfer of innovation into practice?

These questions were at the heart of our participation in EFX and Quantum Effects, held in Stuttgart from October 6 to 8, 2026.

At EFX, IMS CHIPS was represented as part of the CHIPS Connect BW joint exhibition area. In parallel, we showcased our expertise at Quantum Effects alongside our QSense project partners. Both events provided valuable opportunities to engage with companies, research institutions, and partners from across the innovation ecosystem.

Making technologies visible. Enabling applications.

Our demonstrators in photonics and micro- and nanotechnology offered tangible insights into our technological capabilities and served as starting points for discussions about industrial requirements, emerging applications, and potential development partnerships.

Our institute’s leadership also contributed to the conference program.

Prof. Dr. Jens Anders explored the potential of quantum-based sensing technologies for medical applications in his keynote, “Quantum Sensing for MedTech – Rethinking Precision.”

Prof. Dr. Niels Quack presented the capabilities of IMS CHIPS during an event hosted by the photonics industry association EPIC, highlighting how photonic innovations can be advanced towards scalable technologies.

Innovation thrives on collaboration.

The discussions at both events once again highlighted the importance of close cooperation between research and industry.

Developing new technologies requires more than scientific expertise. It also calls for a deep understanding of industrial requirements, access to advanced manufacturing infrastructure, and strong partnerships across the value chain.

As a research and development partner, IMS CHIPS combines expertise in microelectronics, photonics, and microsystems technology to support companies and research partners in developing innovative technological solutions.

Our sincere thanks go to CHIPS Connect BW, Quantum BW, and our QSense project partners for their excellent organization and for creating valuable opportunities for collaboration and exchange.

It is inspiring to see Baden-Württemberg’s innovation ecosystem continue to grow and to be part of shaping the technologies of tomorrow. Hosting EFX and Quantum Effects simultaneously at the same venue creates valuable synergies, encourages exchange across technologies and industries, and strengthens connections between research and industry.

We are proud to be part of this dynamic ecosystem and to actively contribute to shaping its future.
