IMS CHIPS Research Association supports new LiDAR demonstrator with €40,000
Supporting research, enabling innovation: The IMS CHIPS Research Association is providing €40,000 in funding for the development of a new LiDAR demonstrator at the Institute of Microelectronics Stuttgart.
The annual general meeting of the Research Association of the Institute of Microelectronics Stuttgart took place in October 2026. One particularly positive outcome this year, was the announcement of €40,000 in funding for the development of a new LiDAR demonstrator. The demonstrator is currently under development and will help showcase innovative optical sensing technologies. LiDAR (Light Detection and Ranging) uses laser light to measure distances and offers a wide range of potential applications, including industrial metrology, automation, and environmental sensing. With this new demonstrator, IMS CHIPS aims to make its research and development expertise more tangible while strengthening dialogue with industry partners and other stakeholders.
IMS CHIPS Research Association – connecting science and industry
Founded in 1983, the non-profit Research Association of the Institute of Microelectronics Stuttgart is dedicated to advancing scientific research and fostering collaboration between academia and industry.
A key focus is supporting talented early-career researchers through scholarships that enable them to pursue scientific work at IMS CHIPS while building valuable connections with industry.
Members also benefit from access to research resources, expert advice, networking opportunities, and the ability to help shape the institute’s strategic direction through representation on its Board of Trustees.
The funding of the new LiDAR demonstrator is another example of how close collaboration between research and industry can enable technological progress and support knowledge transfer.
IMS CHIPS sincerely thanks the Research Association and its members for their generous support, continued commitment, and confidence in our research and innovation activities.
