Discussing the Future of Microelectronics in Baden-Württemberg
Today, IMS CHIPS had the honor of welcoming distinguished guests from politics, academia, and public administration: State Minister Krauss, his personal advisor Dr. Janina Mangold, Ministerial Director Michael Kleiner (Ministry of Economic Affairs, Labour and Tourism Baden-Württemberg), and Mr. Mehran Ghahremanpour (Advisor for the Mechanical and Electrical Engineering Industry at the State Ministry).
Together with Prof. Dr. Peter Middendorf, Rector of the University of Stuttgart – with whom we share a close research collaboration spanning more than four decades – we discussed the future of microelectronics in Baden-Württemberg.
Key topics of our discussion included:
- Deep tech innovations and strategic developments at IMS CHIPS
 - Photonic chips as key technologies for energy-efficient AI systems
 - Technology transfer: from basic research to applied development and industrial implementation – in close collaboration with the University of Stuttgart and our industry partners
 - Technological advantage for SMEs – Made in The Länd
 - Future-oriented deep tech jobs at the Stuttgart-Vaihingen location

These topics exemplify the successful path Baden-Württemberg is taking in microelectronics and semiconductor technologies: research-driven, application-oriented, globally connected, and focused on supporting SMEs.
We sincerely thank our guests for their visit and the inspiring discussions – and we look forward to continuing this strong partnership!
